LAS VEGAS — In a remarkable performance marking his 800th career game, Captain Anders Lee netted a goal while Ilya Sorokin turned away 30 shots, leading the New York Islanders to a commanding 4-0 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday evening.

This win marked the Islanders’ second shutout of the season, with their earlier one occurring on November 30, which was also when the Golden Knights last faced a shutout loss. Moreover, this was Sorokin’s second shutout of the season and the 20th of his illustrious career.

With this milestone, Lee became the tenth player in Islanders’ franchise history to join the 800-game club, and notably, he is the first among them to score a goal during this significant achievement.

In addition to Lee’s contribution, Brock Nelson added a goal and an assist, while Bo Horvat and Casey Cizikas each found the net for the Islanders. Defensively, Alexander Romanov provided support with two assists.

On the other side, Adin Hill managed to stop 17 shots for the Golden Knights, who entered the match on a strong streak of victories, having won three consecutive games, nine out of their last ten, and 13 of their previous 15 outings.

The Islanders, after this win, celebrated back-to-back victories for the first time since December 7-8, when they overcame the Carolina Hurricanes and the Ottawa Senators.

**Key Takeaways**
Islanders: New York demonstrated skillful opportunism, capitalizing on two key turnovers by the Golden Knights to secure their initial goals.
Golden Knights: Although Vegas’ recent success had been attributed to solid defensive plays, their defense faltered in this game, allowing the first three goals from the Islanders to originate from the slot.

**Key Moment**
The Golden Knights initially thought they had taken the lead when Tomas Hertl scored from the slot with just over six minutes left in the first period. However, the Islanders challenged the play for offside and were successful, which shifted the momentum. Lee scored just over three minutes later, giving the Islanders a lead they would maintain for the rest of the game.

**Key Stat**
Despite only registering six shots on goal in each of the first two periods, the Islanders were able to convert three of those opportunities into goals.

**Looking Ahead**
The Islanders are set to take on Utah this coming Saturday, while the Golden Knights will host the New York Rangers in their next matchup.
