SAINT CHARLES, Mo. — In a competitive matchup on Thursday, Anias Futrell led the Lindenwood Lions to a 72-62 victory over Tennessee State, delivering an impressive performance with 24 points.

Futrell’s contributions did not end there; he also snagged 10 rebounds and recorded three steals, showcasing his all-around skills. The Lions’ season record improved to 7-9, with a conference standing of 2-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Nathan Johnson Jr. supported the effort by adding 11 points, hitting 3 of 9 from the field, including 1 of 3 from beyond the arc, and sinking all four of his free-throw attempts while also grabbing seven rebounds. Markeith Browning II chipped in 10 points, though he struggled with his shooting, finishing 3 for 13 from the field and failing to make a 3-point shot but converting 4 of 6 from the charity stripe.

On the other side of the court, Josh Ogundele was the standout player for the Tennessee State Tigers, recording 14 points and pulling down eight rebounds. His teammates also showed strong performances with Travis Harper II contributing 14 points, along with six rebounds and two steals. Brandon Weston matched the scoring output with 14 points of his own, adding four assists and two steals, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for the Tigers, leaving them with a season record of 5-11 and a conference record of 1-4.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to be in action again on Saturday. Lindenwood will host UT Martin, while Tennessee State will travel to face Western Illinois, as each team seeks to improve their standings in the conference.
