ST. LOUIS — On Thursday night, the St. Louis Blues showcased an impressive offensive performance, defeating the Anaheim Ducks by a score of 6-2.
Robert Thomas emerged as a standout player, netting two goals in the match. Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich also contributed significantly, each scoring one goal and providing an assist, while Tyler Tucker and Dylan Holloway added their names to the scoresheet with another two goals for St. Louis. Brayden Schenn was instrumental in the playmaking, recording two assists, and goaltender Joel Hofer recorded a solid performance with 22 saves.
For the Ducks, Nikita Nesterenko and Sam Colangelo managed to find the back of the net, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide of the game. Lukas Dostal struggled in goal, conceding six goals on just 22 shots before being pulled midway through the second period, with John Gibson stepping in to stop all 12 shots he faced.
The Blues jumped out to a quick lead, scoring three goals in the first 6:40 of the game. Thomas, Tucker, and Kyrou all found the net in rapid succession. Soon after, with just over six minutes remaining in the first period, Holloway scored the Blues’ fourth goal on their 13th shot of the night.
In the second period, Thomas scored once again at 4:45, and Buchnevich extended the lead to 6-1 at 8:02, marking the end of Dostal’s night. Colangelo finished the scoring for the Ducks with his first goal of the season with just over five minutes left in the period.
Notable takeaways from the game include the absence of Ducks forward Troy Terry, who missed his second consecutive game due to the birth of his second child. Terry leads Anaheim in several key statistical categories, including points, goals, assists, and power-play goals this season. For the Blues, Holloway has been on a roll, accumulating five goals and eight assists in his last eleven games.
A key moment in the match came when Thomas scored his second goal; he received a pass from Buchnevich and had his initial attempt thwarted by Dostal. However, Thomas persisted, maneuvered to a sharp angle, and managed to slide the puck just over the goal line.
A striking statistic from this victorious outing is that the Blues have netted a staggering 37 goals over their last eight contests. With their offensive firepower, they’ve scored four or more goals in five of those eight games, solidifying their scoring capability.
Looking ahead, the Ducks will travel to Philadelphia for their next game on Saturday, while the Blues will return home to face the Colorado Avalanche.
