BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — On Thursday evening, Jaden Brownell led the charge for Samford, scoring 20 points in their victory over VMI with a final score of 81-68.
Brownell showcased a strong all-around performance, contributing three steals and three blocks for the Bulldogs, who improved their record to 13-3 and remain undefeated in the Southern Conference at 3-0. Rylan Jones also made a significant impact on the game, scoring 14 points while dishing out five assists. Adding to the team’s success, Collin Holloway netted 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, shooting an impressive 4 of 7 from the floor and hitting 3 of 4 from the charity stripe.
On the other side, the Keydets had standout performances as well, with Augustinas Kiudulas and Rickey Bradley Jr. each scoring 26 points, although it wasn’t enough to secure a win. VMI’s record now stands at 6-10, and they are still searching for their first Southern Conference victory at 0-3.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. Samford will be at home to take on UNC Greensboro, while VMI will face Chattanooga on the road.
