STONY BROOK, N.Y. — In a thrilling encounter on Thursday night, Drexel powered past Stony Brook with a final score of 67-51, led by an impressive performance from Kobe Magee, who tallied 24 points for the Dragons.
Magee put on a shooting showcase, going 9 for 13 from the field, including an impressive 6 for 8 from three-point territory. Yame Butler also contributed significantly, scoring 14 points with a shooting stat line of 3 for 7 overall and 3 for 5 from beyond the arc, alongside a solid 5 for 6 from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, Cole Hargrove rounded out the scoring with eight points, while also contributing valuable defense with 10 rebounds.
For the Seawolves, who hold a record of 4-12 and are still seeking their first conference win at 0-3, CJ Luster II emerged as the leading scorer with 21 points, also making his presence felt on defense with four steals. Jared Frey added another 10 points to the team’s total.
At halftime, Drexel held a narrow lead of 32-28, with Magee accounting for 13 of the points scored. In the second half, Butler stood out with a team-high of 11 points to help secure the victory.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday, as Drexel gears up to host Towson, while Stony Brook prepares for a home matchup against Northeastern.
