ATLANTA — In a thrilling overtime battle, Georgia State secured an 82-78 victory against Georgia Southern on Wednesday night, propelled by an outstanding performance from Zarigue Nutter, who scored 22 points.
Nutter also contributed six rebounds to the Panthers’ efforts as they improved to a record of 6-10 overall and 2-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. Cesare Edwards stepped up as well with an impressive 20 points, making 8 of 14 shots from the field and hitting 4 of 6 from the charity stripe while also grabbing 11 rebounds. Toneari Lane made his mark on the game with 18 points, shooting 4 for 13 overall, including 2 for 8 from beyond the arc, and perfecting all his free-throw attempts with 8 out of 8.
On the opposing side, Adante’ Holiman was the high scorer for the Eagles (8-8, 1-3), putting up 19 points while also making two steals. Alongside him, Dontae Horne contributed 14 points and three steals, and Bradley Douglas added 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Looking ahead, both teams will take the court again this Saturday. Georgia State is set to host Coastal Carolina, while Georgia Southern will travel to face Marshall.
