EVANSVILLE, Ind. — In a strong showing, Tayshawn Comer led the Evansville Purple Aces to a 69-51 victory against Illinois State on Wednesday night, scoring 19 points and providing five assists. The win improved Evansville’s record to 6-10 overall and 3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Joining Comer in the scoring effort, Tanner Cuff contributed 14 points along with five rebounds, while Cameron Haffner also netted 14 points, hitting 5 of 12 attempts from the field, including an impressive 4 for 9 from three-point range.

For the Redbirds, who now hold a record of 10-6 and 2-3 in the conference, Malachi Poindexter was the standout player with 14 points.

The game was tightly contested in the first half, with Evansville taking a narrow lead of 34-30 at the break, during which Haffner tallied nine points. The Purple Aces seized control in the second half, capitalizing on a 10-0 run that helped them pull away from Illinois State.
