NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Belmont Bruins triumphed over Southern Illinois with a final score of 90-86 on Wednesday night, thanks in large part to Jonathan Pierre’s impressive performance of 21 points.

Pierre also contributed five rebounds to the team’s efforts. The Bruins, now holding a record of 11 wins and 5 losses (3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference), saw a strong performance from Brigham Rogers, who scored 17 points while going 7 for 12 from the field and 3 for 4 at the free-throw line, as well as grabbing nine rebounds. Tyler Lundblade added to the score, finishing with 14 points by hitting 4 of 8 shots overall and making all three of his free-throw attempts in the closing moments of the game.

On the other hand, the Salukis struggled to find their rhythm, now standing at 5 wins and 11 losses (0-5 in the conference). Their standout player, Ali Abdou Dibba, showcased an impressive offensive skill set, putting up 33 points, along with nine rebounds and three steals. Kennard Davis added 13 points, accompanied by five assists and four steals, while Jarrett Hensley contributed 11 points and four assists for Southern Illinois.

In the initial half, Rogers was particularly dominant for Belmont, scoring 13 points, leading to a halftime advantage of 43-31. Pierre stepped up in the second half, adding an additional 12 points to help secure the win for the Bruins.
