Macon, Georgia – Quimari Peterson led East Tennessee State to a narrow 70-68 victory over Mercer on Wednesday night, finishing the game with 25 points.
In addition to his scoring, Peterson contributed significantly with five assists and three steals for the Buccaneers, who now hold a record of 9-7 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Conference.
Jaden Seymour was another standout for East Tennessee State, scoring 19 points on an efficient shooting performance of 6 for 10, which included hitting 3 of 5 three-pointers and converting 4 of 5 free throws. Seymour also made his presence felt on the boards with nine rebounds. Gabe Sisk chipped in with nine points, shooting 3 of 9 from the field and hitting 2 of 4 free throws.
On the other side, the Bears also have a record of 9-7 and 2-1 in the conference. Alex Holt was the top performer for Mercer, recording 16 points along with nine rebounds. Tyler Johnson contributed 15 points, while Ahmad Robinson rounded out the scoring with 14 points, in addition to pulling down six rebounds, dishing out seven assists, and making five steals.
Looking ahead, both teams will be in action again on Saturday, with East Tennessee State set to host The Citadel, while Mercer will be on the road to face Western Carolina.
