SPARTANBURG, S.C. — In an exciting matchup, Wofford triumphed over Western Carolina with a score of 77-69 on Wednesday evening, thanks in part to a standout performance by Corey Tripp, who netted 17 points.
Tripp was efficient, converting 5 of 11 shots, including 3 of 6 attempts from beyond the arc, and maintaining a perfect shooting streak from the free-throw line, going 4 for 4. The Terriers, now holding a record of 8-8 and 2-1 in the Southern Conference, also saw Dillon Bailey contribute significantly, scoring 17 points from a shooting line of 4 for 8, with 2 of those being 3-pointers, and finishing strong at the foul line with a 7 for 9 performance. Additionally, Kyler Filewich had a solid game, making 8 of 12 shots for a total of 16 points.
Western Carolina (4-10, 0-3) was spearheaded by Bernard Pelote, who had a remarkable outing, scoring 27 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Marcus Kell also played a vital role, adding 16 points and contributing two blocks to the effort.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to continue their campaigns on Saturday. Wofford will travel to take on Furman, while Western Carolina will host Mercer at home.
