Coach Emma Hayes has announced the selection of 24 players for a Futures Camp that will coincide with the U.S. national team’s annual training camp this January.
This roster comprises a blend of talent, featuring ten college players and 14 from the professional ranks, including 13 players from the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and one representing the USL Super League.
Notably, 17 of these athletes have previously competed in World Cups as part of U.S. youth national teams.
The futures roster was made public on Wednesday, the day following the announcement of the senior team players who will gather for their camp in Carson, California, starting next week.
Hayes is taking this opportunity to assess potential talent with a strategic view towards the upcoming 2027 World Cup in Brazil and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“The future of the roster for 2027 remains uncertain, so I want to ensure we have a larger pool of players ready to help us compete at the highest levels,” Hayes expressed during a conference call with the media.
Included in the Futures roster is Gisele Thompson, a defender with Angel City and the younger sibling of Alyssa Thompson, who has also been called up for the senior camp.
Additionally, two players from the Futures selection were part of North Carolina’s latest NCAA championship-winning team: Maddie Dahlien and Kate Faasse.
Dahlien was recently signed by NWSL’s Seattle Reign, while Faasse earned the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy, awarded to the best college soccer player in the nation.
The Futures roster breakdown by position, along with their college or professional teams, is as follows:
**Goalkeepers:** Jordan Brown (Georgia), Mia Justus (Utah Royals), Neeku Purcell (Brooklyn FC).
**Defenders:** Jordyn Bugg (Seattle Reign), Heather Gilchrist (Florida State), Savy King (Bay FC), Emily Mason (Rutgers), Makenna Morris (Washington Spirit), Lilly Reale (Gotham FC), Gisele Thompson (Angel City).
**Midfielders:** Taylor Huff (Florida State), Claire Hutton (Kansas City Current), Riley Jackson (North Carolina Courage), Ainsley McCammon (Seattle Reign), Yuna McCormack (Florida State), Lexi Missimo (Texas).

This Futures Camp represents a crucial step in developing emerging talent within U.S. women’s soccer as they look beyond the immediate competitions to the future.
