SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Vegas Golden Knights secured a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night, with Mark Stone contributing significantly with a goal and an assist.

Zach Whitecloud, Victor Olofsson, and Tomas Hertl also found the back of the net, enabling the Golden Knights to extend their winning streak to three games. Shea Theodore was instrumental as well, delivering two assists throughout the match.

For San Jose, William Eklund shone with a goal and an assist while Timothy Liljegren added another goal to their tally.

Olofsson pushed Vegas ahead 3-1 early in the third period on a power play with a remarkable slap shot from the circle, assisted by Jack Eichel. However, Liljegren responded with a power-play goal for the Sharks, narrowing the gap to 3-2 at 10:41. Hertl ultimately sealed the game with an empty-net goal.

In a standout defensive performance, Vegas goalie Ilya Samsonov made 20 saves against San Jose’s attempts, while Sharks goaltender Alexandar Georgiev faced a barrage of shots, turning away 38.

Key takeaways from the game highlight that the Golden Knights have emerged victorious in nine of their last 10 games and 13 out of 15 overall. On the flip side, the Sharks have struggled recently, losing nine of their last 11 matches since winning their first two games of the year.

A critical moment in the game occurred when Sharks forward Fabian Zetterlund was penalized for slashing with just three seconds remaining in the second period, setting the stage for the vital goal by Olofsson.

In terms of individual achievements, Stone’s goal marked the 100th of his career with the Golden Knights and came in his 300th game with the franchise. Recently, he surpassed 600 career points in a previous game against Buffalo and now boasts three goals and four assists in three encounters against San Jose this season.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will be hosting the New York Rangers on Thursday, while the Sharks are scheduled to play against Utah on Friday.
