MARSEILLE, France — In a recent development, French football club Marseille has officially acquired Italian international defender Luiz Felipe as a free agent. This move comes after Felipe mutually agreed to part ways with his former team, Al-Ittihad, competing in the Saudi Pro League.

The club, known for its rich history with nine league titles, announced on Tuesday that the 27-year-old player, initially hailing from Brazil, has successfully undergone his medical examination. However, the specific terms of the contract remain undisclosed at this time.

Luiz Felipe embarked on his professional football journey back in 2015, initially making a name for himself with Serie A outfit Lazio. He later expanded his football experience by competing in Spain’s La Liga for Real Betis.

This signing marks the first addition to Marseille’s roster during the winter transfer window. Currently, the club is positioned second in the French league standings, trailing only behind Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). With Felipe on board, Marseille aims to strengthen their squad in hopes of securing a spot in next season’s Champions League.
