Oprah Winfrey is kicking off 2025 by revisiting an influential title for her book club. She has chosen Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life Purpose,” a selection that marks the first instance of her picking a book for the club on two separate occasions.
Winfrey’s book club, which she established in 1996, previously featured “A New Earth” in 2008. During that time, she hosted a series of webinars with Tolle that centered around the book. First published in 2005, “A New Earth” has gained immense popularity, selling millions of copies worldwide.
In a recent statement, Winfrey shared her thoughts about the book, stating, “As we welcome a new year, I wanted to revisit the book that had more effect on me than any other book by a living author has had on my perception of how I understand my connection to the world.” She emphasized that Tolle’s insights resonate across various generations, and the newly launched podcast conversation aims to explore his impactful ideas, offering listeners the chance to have fresh revelations.
In a recent video podcast conversation with Tolle, filmed at a Starbucks Reserve located in the Empire State Building, viewers can catch the discussion on Winfrey’s YouTube channel and other platforms. Just last month, Winfrey introduced “The Oprah Podcast,” a weekly series featuring authors from her book club, with the interviews taking place in collaboration with Starbucks.
Eckhart Tolle expressed his gratitude towards Winfrey for making spirituality more accessible to a broader audience. He remarked, “Now, for the second time, she has chosen ‘A New Earth’ for her Book Club, thus bringing it to a new generation of readers at a time of increasing collective challenges. As there is no awakening and no gain in consciousness without challenges, we live in truly auspicious times!”
