France’s flanker Ollivon announces knee surgery, sidelining him for the remainder of the season.

TOULON, France — Charles Ollivon, the flanker for France’s rugby team, announced on Tuesday that he will need to undergo surgery on his right knee, which will prevent him from participating for the remainder of the season.

The experienced player, who has netted 16 tries in 46 matches for his national team, sustained the injury during the weekend while playing for his Top 14 club in a 36-24 victory against Racing 92.

“It’s difficult to share this news,” Ollivon expressed in a social media post. “I have to step away from what I love for a while, but I am scheduled for surgery soon. My commitment to the team is unwavering, and I’m fully behind them as I work towards coming back next season.”

At 31 years old, Ollivon’s absence will also be felt during the upcoming Six Nations tournament, where France is set to kick off their campaign against Wales on January 31.

He recently participated in the Autumn series, making an impact coming off the bench in the nail-biting 30-29 triumph over New Zealand and showcasing his defensive prowess in the 37-23 victory against Argentina.
