HOUSTON — In an exciting overtime matchup, Texas Southern triumphed over Grambling with a final score of 71-66 on Monday night, primarily driven by an impressive performance from Zaire Hayes.
Hayes led the team with 24 points, completing 8 of his 15 attempts from the field, including 3 out of 7 from beyond the arc. He also contributed significantly from the free-throw line, sinking 5 out of 6 attempts, helping the Tigers improve their record to 4-11 overall and 1-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Kavion McClain supported the team’s efforts with 11 points and five assists, while Jaylin Jackson-Posey added nine points to the scoring tally.
For Grambling, Antwan Barnett and Ernest Ross both stood out, each contributing 13 points. Barnett also grabbed eight rebounds, while Kintavious Dozier rounded out the scoring for Grambling with 11 points and eight rebounds of his own.

The game reached overtime after Mikale Stevenson of Grambling hit two critical free throws with just 13 seconds left on the clock, tying the game at 57 and forcing the extra period.
