PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – AJ Barnes delivered a standout performance, contributing 19 points to lead the Southern Jaguars to a close victory over Prairie View A&M, finishing with a score of 84-80 on Monday night.
In addition to his scoring, Barnes also secured nine rebounds, helping the Jaguars improve their record to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Derrick Tezeno provided solid support with 13 points, while Jordan Johnson added another 11 points to the scoreboard.
On the other side, the Panthers struggled but were led by Tanahj Pettway, who finished the game with 21 points. Orlando Horton Jr. also had a significant impact, scoring 20 points along with four assists. Elijah Terry contributed to the effort with 13 points, complemented by three steals and two blocks.
As the season progresses, both teams will look to build on their performances and improve their standings in the conference.
