MONTGOMERY, Ala. — In an exciting finish, CJ Hines delivered a game-winning layup at the buzzer, leading Alabama State to a thrilling 93-91 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday evening. Hines not only secured the win but also showcased his skills by scoring a total of 23 points and grabbing six rebounds for the Hornets, improving their record to 6-9, with a 2-0 mark in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
In addition to Hines’ standout performance, Amarr Knox contributed significantly to the victory with 20 points, while Micah Octave added 13 points, further assisting the team’s efforts as they came back from a 50-41 halftime deficit.
On the other side of the court, the Golden Lions, who now hold a record of 3-12 and are yet to win a conference game at 0-2, found their star in Doctor Bradley. Bradley delivered an impressive career-high performance, scoring 35 points in just his second game of the season. The junior, who had previously set a personal best with 30 points in his opening game, also recorded seven rebounds and seven assists. His teammates Christian Moore and Caleb Jones chipped in 19 and 15 points, respectively, but their efforts fell just short in the high-paced contest.
Alabama State’s perseverance and ability to rally back in the second half proved essential for their hard-fought win.
