COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Sole Williams put on a stellar performance, scoring 18 points, which included crucial baskets late in the final quarter, leading Texas A&M to a narrow victory against No. 25 Mississippi with a final score of 60-58 on Sunday.

From the onset, Mississippi maintained control of the game, only encountering a brief tie at 2-2. However, everything changed in the fourth quarter when Texas A&M embarked on an impressive 12-0 run, leveling the score at 52 with just over five minutes on the clock, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Janae Kent.

For the first time in the game, the Aggies seized the lead at 57-55 after Williams connected on a 3-pointer with 2:50 left. Further extending their advantage, Aicha Coulibaly scored a jumper, increasing Texas A&M’s lead to four points with just 52 seconds remaining.

In a dramatic response, Kirsten Deans of the Rebels was fouled while attempting a 3-pointer and sank all three free throws, narrowing the gap to 59-58 with 43 seconds on the clock.

As the game entered its final moments, Texas A&M strategically managed the shot clock before Kent missed another long-range attempt. A rebound by Ole Miss’s Kennedy Todd-Williams offered a glimmer of hope, but Jada Malone of the Aggies made a pivotal steal. Williams was subsequently fouled, and she converted one of her free throws, bringing the score to 60-58 with six seconds remaining. Unfortunately for Ole Miss, Tameiya Sadler could not convert her shot as time expired, sealing the victory for Texas A&M.

In addition to Williams’ standout performance, Jada Malone also contributed 14 points for Texas A&M, which now holds a record of 8-6 and stands at 1-1 in SEC play. For Ole Miss, Madison Scott and Starr Jacobs each added 14 points, while Sira Thienou scored 10. The Rebels, ending their impressive five-game winning streak, will next host Vanderbilt on Thursday. Meanwhile, Texas A&M will travel to face the highly ranked No. 2 South Carolina on the same day.
