LIVERPOOL, England — The highly anticipated Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United is set to take place on Sunday after thorough safety evaluations regarding the cold weather that has been affecting various regions across the United Kingdom this weekend.
The UK has experienced significant snowfall and icy conditions, leading to several weather warnings being issued.
In preparation for the match at Anfield, two meetings were conducted to review the travel and weather situations to ensure the safety of all attendees.
“We appreciate the efforts of everyone who has contributed to making this match possible today. If you’re making your way to Anfield, please proceed with caution. We are excited to welcome you there,” Liverpool communicated on X.
Currently, Liverpool holds the top position in the Premier League standings, maintaining a five-point lead over Arsenal while having played two fewer matches.
It’s worth noting that last month, a scheduled game against Everton had to be postponed due to severe storm conditions in the UK.
Additionally, in League Two, matchups including Chesterfield against Gillingham and Fleetwood facing Wimbledon were also called off due to similar weather-related issues.
