SEATTLE — The Edmonton Oilers continued their winning streak with a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday evening, marking their third consecutive win.

Vasily Podkolzin and Jeff Skinner set the tone early by scoring in the first five and a half minutes of the game. Leon Draisaitl capped off the scoring with an empty-net goal at 1:58 from the end of the match, just moments after the Kraken had pulled their goaltender, Philipp Grubauer, in favor of an extra skater.

Calvin Pickard was solid in goal for Edmonton, making 15 saves, which helped improve the team’s record to 24-12-3. Viktor Arvidsson contributed significantly with two assists during the match. Seattle’s Grubauer managed to stop 28 shots to keep his team in the game. Chandler Stephenson and Jaden Schwartz found the back of the net for the Kraken.

Podkolzin wasted no time, scoring just 57 seconds into the game with a quick shot after breaking down the right flank, receiving a pass from Draisaitl. Skinner doubled the lead to 2-0 at 5:18, expertly redirecting a long pass from Kasperi Kapanen into Grubauer’s net from close range, marking his seventh goal of the season.

In terms of player performance, Draisaitl’s 30th assist of the season, which came on Podkolzin’s early goal, extended his impressive points streak to 14 games, where he has recorded 12 goals and 15 assists—tying his career-high for consecutive matches. With his empty-netter, Draisaitl now boasts 29 goals for the current season.

On the Seattle side, defenseman Vince Dunn reached a milestone by playing in his 500th NHL game and assisted on Schwartz’s goal, making him the third player from Seattle to achieve this milestone this season, following Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Tanev.

A pivotal moment in the match occurred when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins extended the Oilers’ lead to 3-0 with just over eight minutes remaining in the second period. He found a rebound from Connor Brown’s blocked shot and slid it into the net.

Key statistics highlighted Draisaitl’s dominance against the Kraken; he has accumulated 25 points (six goals and 19 assists) in just 11 career games against them, more than any other player in the NHL.

Looking ahead, the Oilers will travel to Boston on Tuesday night, while the Kraken will host the New Jersey Devils on Monday evening.
