In a strong showing on Saturday, Cal State Bakersfield secured an 80-65 victory over Long Beach State, led by Jemel Jones, who contributed 25 points to the win.
Jones was an efficient shooter, making 12 of 22 attempts from the floor, although he struggled from three-point range, hitting only one of six shots. This win improved the Roadrunners’ record to 8-8 overall and 2-2 in the Big West Conference.

CJ Hardy also played a key role in the game, scoring 12 points while making three out of seven field goals and going a perfect five for five from the free-throw line. Corey Stephenson added to the team’s effort as well, finishing with 10 points on three of eight shooting and completing all four of his free-throw attempts, while also grabbing 11 rebounds to aid his team defensively.

On the other side, Long Beach State’s Devin Askew stood out, leading his team with 21 points and contributing four assists. His performance was complemented by Austin Johnson, who scored 14 points. TJ Wainwright also made his presence felt on the scoreboard with 12 points. With this match, both teams now hold a conference record of 2-2, with Long Beach State’s overall record sitting at 6-10.
