HOUSTON — In an exciting matchup on Saturday night, Southern University triumphed over Texas Southern with a score of 67-58, led by the impressive performance of Jordan Johnson, who scored 20 points.
Johnson showcased his shooting skills by making 6 of 12 attempts from the field, including a remarkable 5 of 9 from beyond the arc, and added 3 successful free throws from 4 attempts for the Jaguars, who improved their record to 6-8 and marked their first win in the Southwestern Athletic Conference at 1-0.
Derrick Tezeno contributed to the victory with 11 points, effectively shooting 4 of 8 overall, which included 2 of 3 from three-point range. Dionjahe Thomas also played a key role, finishing the game with seven points, hitting both of his field goal attempts and securing 3 out of 4 from the free-throw line.
