SALT LAKE CITY — In a decisive performance, Darrion Williams led Texas Tech to a resounding 93-65 victory over Utah, contributing 19 points along with nine assists. Federiko Federiko supported the cause with 14 points, showcasing his athleticism with five dunks while shooting 7-of-9 from the field on Saturday.

The Red Raiders also had solid contributions from Christian Anderson, who scored 13 points, and Elijah Hawkins, who not only netted a season-high four 3-pointers but also added 12 points and eight assists to his tally. JT Toppin and Chance McMillian each made impactful contributions, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.

Utah initially took control of the game when Miro Little drained a 3-pointer, giving them a 30-29 lead with just over six minutes left in the first half. However, McMillian quickly responded with a triple of his own just seconds later, reclaiming the lead for Texas Tech and igniting an 18-6 run to end the half with a comfortable 47-36 advantage.

Gabe Madsen’s free-throw following halftime reduced the Utes’ deficit to nine points, yet Hawkins and Walton quickly asserted Texas Tech’s dominance with consecutive 3-pointers, pushing the score to 54-39 and effectively silencing any Ute rally attempts.

Utah’s efforts included contributions from Zach Keller, who scored 12 points shooting an impressive 6-of-7, as well as Keanu Dawes and Jake Wahlin, who added 11 and 10 points respectively. Unfortunately for the Utes (8-5, 0-2), this loss marks their third consecutive defeat in a challenging stretch of games.

Texas Tech’s shooting excellence was evident as they finished at an impressive 59% from the field, sinking 12 3-pointers while keeping their mistakes minimal with only five turnovers throughout the contest. In stark contrast, Utah struggled in the second half, making only 28% of their shots from the field, converting just 7 out of 25 attempts.
