CORVALLIS, Ore. — In a commanding performance, Oregon State secured a decisive 81-54 victory over San Diego on Saturday night, largely thanks to Michael Rataj’s outstanding contribution of 18 points.
Rataj also showcased his skills on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds for the Beavers, who improved their season record to 12-4 and are now 2-1 in the West Coast Conference. Nate Kingz provided solid support, finishing with 15 points, shooting 4 of 7 overall, while excelling from beyond the arc with 3 of 5 attempts, along with making 4 of 5 free throws. Liutauras Lelevicius also made a significant impact, scoring 13 points on an impressive 5 of 6 shooting, including three 3-pointers out of four.
For the Toreros, Tony Duckett was the leading scorer with 12 points, while Joey Chammaa contributed 10 points and managed to make four steals. Kjay Bradley Jr. added nine points to San Diego’s total. Despite the loss, the team showed flashes of potential but ultimately could not keep up with the Beavers.
Looking ahead, Oregon State will face off against Santa Clara on the road this Thursday, while San Diego will travel to Gonzaga for their upcoming game on Wednesday.
