KENNESAW, Ga. — Simeon Cottle delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 28 points to help Kennesaw State secure an 83-71 triumph over Jacksonville State during their Conference USA opener on Saturday evening.
Cottle had a game shooting of 9 for 21, including a solid 4 for 11 from beyond the arc, and made 6 out of 7 free throws. Alongside him, Adrian Wooley contributed significantly with 20 points, connecting 8 of his 14 attempts (2 for 6 from three-point distance), and also recorded eight rebounds. Braedan Lue added to the scoring tally with 12 points on 5 of 10 shooting, making 2 of 4 from three.
For the Gamecocks, Jaron Pierre Jr. was the standout player, scoring 20 points and providing four assists. Marcellus Brigham Jr. supported the cause by contributing 15 points and grabbing six rebounds, while Mason Nicholson rounded off their efforts with 10 points and an impressive five blocks.
In the first half, Cottle led the Owls with 12 points, and the teams entered halftime tied at 36-36. Kennesaw State surged ahead in the second half, establishing a 10-point advantage following an 11-0 run.
