EDWARDSVILLE, Illinois — In a hard-fought contest on Saturday night, Ray’Sean Taylor scored 18 points to lead SIU-Edwardsville to a 58-47 victory over Lindenwood.

Taylor also contributed significantly on the boards, securing eight rebounds, and was active on defense with three steals for the Cougars, who improved their season record to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Desmond Polk also had a strong showing, making six of his eight attempts from the field, including two of three from beyond the arc, to finish with 15 points. Myles Thompson added eight points to the team’s total, shooting 4 of 10 from the floor and contributing three steals as well.

For the Lions, Markeith Browning II was the standout performer, recording 16 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Anias Futrell offered support with nine points and eight rebounds, while Jadis Jones also contributed nine points along with six rebounds.

With this victory, the Cougars continue to show promise in their season as they regroup and prepare for the next challenges ahead.
