BALTIMORE — In their final game of the regular season, the Baltimore Ravens faced the unwelcome prospect of a significant injury. The team is currently optimistic that star receiver Zay Flowers has avoided a severe setback.
During the Ravens’ commanding 35-10 victory against the Cleveland Browns, Flowers exited the game due to concern over a right knee injury. The second-year wideout was seen favoring his leg following a short reception and run in the second quarter, during which he appeared to take a hit on the knee from Cleveland’s Mohamoud Diabate.
Despite the injury, Flowers managed to rise and slowly leave the field, prompting worries for both the player and his team, who are preparing for the upcoming playoffs. Head coach John Harbaugh provided a glimmer of hope, stating, “It’s something that he has a chance to be OK with, but we’ll probably have more details after an MRI tomorrow morning.”
This season, Flowers has made a significant impact, contributing vital plays for the Ravens by recording 74 receptions totaling 1,059 yards and four touchdowns. Standing at 5-foot-9, he has also showcased his agility by occasionally contributing to the running game.
With their victory over the Browns, the Ravens secured the AFC North title, which means that they were unlikely to rest key players to mitigate the risk of injury, even in a decisive game like this one.
