YPSILANTI, Mich. — In an exciting match on Saturday, Da’Sean Nelson delivered an impressive performance, scoring 32 points as Eastern Michigan triumphed over Northern Illinois with a final score of 75-71.

Nelson’s contribution didn’t stop at points; he also secured nine rebounds for the Eagles, who now hold a record of 7-6 and have begun their Mid-American Conference season with a win. Jalin Billingsley was another key player, contributing 15 points while showcasing an efficient shooting performance, hitting 5 of 7 attempts from the field and 4 of 8 from the free-throw line, while also grabbing five rebounds. Christian Henry added to the team’s success with 13 points, demonstrating solid shooting by going 5 for 10, including one three-pointer out of four attempts.

For the Huskies, who are now 4-9 and opened their conference play with this defeat, James Dent Jr. emerged as the top scorer, accounting for 15 points, along with eight rebounds and four assists. Ethan Butler also made a significant impact by scoring 14 points and bringing down six rebounds, while Quaran McPherson contributed 12 points to the team’s effort.

Nelson was particularly notable in the second half, scoring 16 points which played a crucial role in securing the four-point win for Eastern Michigan.
