ST. LOUIS — In a decisive match on Friday night, Isaiah Swope led the way with 26 points as Saint Louis secured a 73-57 victory over Saint Joseph’s (PA).

Swope also contributed significantly by dishing out eight assists for the Billikens, who improved their season record to 9-6, with a conference standing of 2-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Robbie Avila played an impressive supporting role, scoring 21 points while shooting 50% from the field (7 of 14). His performance included making 4 of 8 attempts from beyond the arc and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line. Avila also had a robust presence on the boards with 11 rebounds and five assists.

Kalu Anya contributed with nine points on 4 of 7 shooting and pulled down 15 rebounds, adding to the team’s efforts.

For the Hawks, Rasheer Fleming delivered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Erik Reynolds II chipped in with 11 points. Xzayvier Brown also scored 11 points for Saint Joseph’s (PA).

Saint Louis gained the upper hand with 6:39 remaining in the first half and maintained their lead throughout the match. Swope showcased his scoring abilities, leading the charge with 12 points before halftime, which helped the Billikens to establish a 36-29 advantage at the break.

In the second half, Saint Louis intensified their performance with a 12-2 scoring run, increasing their six-point lead to a commanding 16 points. The team outperformed Saint Joseph’s (PA) by nine points in the final half, with Swope once again showing his prowess by scoring 14 points.

Both teams are set to continue their seasons on Wednesday, with Saint Louis taking on Saint Bonaventure at home, while Saint Joseph’s (PA) will travel to face Duquesne.
