This matchup was only the fourth encounter in the NBA’s 79-year history where both teams entered with winning streaks of nine games or more.
The Knicks were ahead 66-54 at halftime. In the third quarter, Oklahoma City began to chip away at the lead, outscoring New York 26-22, bringing the game to a more competitive stance and setting the scene for their third comeback in as many games.
In terms of key moments, the Thunder found themselves trailing 97-92 midway through the fourth quarter. That’s when Wiggins took charge, initiating a robust 25-10 run highlighted by three three-pointers and a crucial three-point play.
A significant statistic from the game showed that Oklahoma City excelled behind the arc, successfully making 14 of their 27 attempts from three-point range (51.9%), while New York managed only 9 of their 32 attempts (21.8%).
Looking ahead, the Knicks will travel to face the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, while the Thunder will host the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
