TORONTO — The Professional Women’s Hockey League has handed down a one-game suspension to Montreal Victoire forward Catherine Dubois for an illegal hit to the head.
The league made this announcement on Friday following an incident during a recent game. Dubois received a major penalty and was ejected for checking Boston player Megan Keller during Montreal’s 3-1 victory over the Fleet that took place earlier this week.
The incident occurred as the second period was concluding, where Keller was hit near the boards, resulting in a hard fall onto the ice. Thankfully, Keller was able to return and participate in the third period of the match.
Standing at 5-foot-10, Dubois has recorded one assist over the span of five games in the current season.
Due to the suspension, she will be unavailable for Montreal’s upcoming rematch against Boston, which is set to take place on Sunday in Seattle. This game is part of the PWHL’s “Takeover Tour,” a series of events geared towards fostering league expansion in the next season.
The Victoire are currently on a four-game winning streak and hold second place in the league standings with 13 points, trailing just one point behind the Minnesota Frost while having one game in hand.
