PERTH, Australia — In a recent incident during the Twenty20 Big Bash League, two players from the Sydney Thunder faced serious injuries after an on-field collision while competing against the Perth Scorchers.

Team representatives reported that Cameron Bancroft, who opened the batting for the Thunder, will not return for the remainder of the season following a broken right shoulder blade and a broken nose sustained during the incident on Friday night.

Bancroft collided with his teammate Daniel Sams, who appeared to be briefly unconscious due to the impact. The match was put on hold as both players received necessary medical attention.

According to team officials, both Bancroft and Sams were expected to be discharged from the hospital the following afternoon. However, Sams will be out for a minimum of 12 days as both players were diagnosed with concussions stemming from the collision.

Despite the setback, the Thunder managed to secure a victory, winning the game by four wickets as they chased down the Scorchers’ total. Perth set a score of 177 runs for the loss of four wickets, while Sydney successfully responded with a total of 179 runs for six wickets, clinching the win with just one ball remaining.
