LONG BEACH, Calif. — In an impressive display of skill, Isaiah Moses led UC Riverside to a solid 76-60 victory over Long Beach State on Thursday evening.
Moses contributed a notable 22 points, shooting an efficient 10 of 16 from the field, which included 2 of 6 from three-point territory. The Highlanders improved their season record to 10-5 and maintained an unbeaten streak in the Big West Conference at 3-0.
Nate Pickens also played a significant role in the win, scoring 19 points while going 7 of 12 from the field, inclusive of 2 of 5 from downtown, and perfecting all three of his free-throw attempts. He not only provided a scoring boost but also grabbed 10 rebounds, showcasing a well-rounded performance. Barrington Hargress contributed to the effort as well, finishing with 17 points after shooting 6 of 16 from the floor, including 2 of 6 from behind the arc, and making 3 of 4 free throws.
On the other side, Long Beach State, now at 6-9 overall and 2-1 in the conference, saw Devin Askew score 17 points, along with eight rebounds and five assists, leading the team. Cam Denson also chipped in with 11 points. Derrick Michael Xzavierro provided solid support as well, contributing eight points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. With this loss, Long Beach State’s five-game winning streak came to an end, dampening their momentum.
