EL PASO, Texas — In a competitive matchup on Thursday night, Otis Frazier III played a key role in securing a victory for UTEP, contributing 21 points in a 70-60 win over Louisiana Tech.
Frazier also recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds, demonstrating his all-around performance. Corey Camper Jr. added to the team’s efforts with 17 points, hitting 6 of 14 shots from the field, including a three-pointer. He was perfect at the free-throw line, making all four attempts, and also contributed six rebounds and four steals. Furthermore, Devon Barnes chipped in with 11 points, shooting 3 of 9 overall and connecting on two three-pointers out of six attempts, while also converting three of four free throws.
On the opposing side, Louisiana Tech’s scoring was led by Kaden Cooper, who tallied 14 points, while Sean Newman Jr. contributed 11 points along with seven assists. Daniel Batcho was notable defensively for the Bulldogs, securing eight rebounds to go along with his 10 points.
UTEP seized the lead late in the first half, with 3:59 remaining, and maintained their advantage throughout the game. Camper was particularly effective early on, scoring nine points in the first half and helping UTEP to take a 36-27 lead into halftime. In the second half, Frazier’s performance was critical as he scored 15 points, solidifying UTEP’s lead and ultimately ensuring a 10-point win.
Both teams will return to action on Saturday, with UTEP set to face Sam Houston at home, while Louisiana Tech travels to New Mexico State for their next game.
