HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — On Thursday night, Dezayne Mingo played a pivotal role in leading Marshall to a 77-71 victory over Texas State, finishing the game with 23 points.
Mingo also contributed with five rebounds and five assists for the Thundering Herd, who now hold a record of 8-7 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Obinna Anochili-Killen was another standout for Marshall, scoring 19 points on an impressive shooting performance of 8-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-7 from the charity stripe, in addition to pulling down six rebounds and making six blocks.
Jalen Speer also made his presence felt, adding 13 points, connecting on half of his field goal attempts, including three 3-pointers out of six attempts.

For the Bobcats, who now sit at 8-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play, Tyler Morgan was the leading scorer with 17 points while also grabbing three steals.
Coleton Benson supported the team with 16 points, while Kaden Gumbs rounded out their scoring with 10 points.
This matchup showcased the competitive spirit of both teams as they battled it out on the court.
