HAMILTON, N.Y. — In an impressive display of skill, Jeff Woodward led the Colgate Raiders to a 71-59 victory over the Army Black Knights on Thursday evening.
Woodward not only scored 17 points but also grabbed seven rebounds, driving his team to a strong performance and improving their season record to 4-10 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League.
Supporting him were Jalen Cox, who added 15 points on a 6-of-12 shooting effort along with five assists, and Chandler Baker, who scored 11 points with an efficient 4-of-5 shooting.
On the other side, Josh Scovens was the standout player for the Black Knights, recording 16 points along with two steals and three blocks. Teammate Ryan Curry contributed 14 points, while AJ Allenspach rounded out the scoring with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Colgate was able to build momentum early, with Woodward’s 14 points in the first half helping them secure a 38-32 lead at halftime.
The Raiders took control in the second half, executing a decisive 12-0 scoring run that extended their advantage to 17 points. Cox led the charge in that period, emerging as the top scorer for Colgate with 11 points in the second half.
This win marks a solid start for Colgate in their league play, and the team will look to maintain this momentum moving forward in the season.
