TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – Zek Montgomery delivered a standout performance for Bradley, scoring 26 points, while Duke Deen sealed the victory with a crucial layup with just 4.3 seconds remaining in overtime, as the Braves outlasted Indiana State 90-89 on Wednesday evening.
The dramatic conclusion unfolded after the Braves generated a turnover with 20 seconds still on the clock. They expertly maneuvered the ball around until Deen made his move, dribbling to the left wing before navigating along the baseline. He circled back towards the basket, executing a layup in the lane as one of the defenders slipped, securing a thrilling win for his team.
Montgomery was effective, hitting 11 of his 19 attempts overall, including 3-for-7 from three-point range. Deen also made a significant contribution, scoring 24 points on 9 of 17 shooting, with a 4-for-11 success rate from beyond the arc, and grabbing seven rebounds. Demarion Burch added to the scoring effort with 13 points, making 4 of 5 from the field and converting 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
On the other side, Indiana State’s Camp Wagner led his team with 20 points along with seven rebounds, keeping the game competitive. Samage Teel supported with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, while Jaden Daughtry rounded out the performance with 19 points and two steals.
As the regulation period wound down, Deen’s attempt at a 3-pointer missed the mark after Wagner tied the game with his own three-pointer with just 11 seconds remaining, sending the matchup into overtime.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday, with Bradley playing at home against Missouri State and Indiana State traveling to face Evansville.
