CHICAGO — Freshman Liam McNeeley from UConn is scheduled for an MRI on Thursday concerning his injured right ankle.
The injury occurred during the second half of the Huskies’ game against DePaul, which they won 81-68.
The 6-foot-7 forward suffered the injury after colliding with DePaul guard Layden Blocker while attempting to retrieve a deflected pass.
“We’re hoping it’s just a sprain,” commented UConn coach Dan Hurley. “At this point, we don’t have much information.”

McNeeley required assistance to leave the court and concluded the game with nine points and six rebounds, having played nearly 25 and a half minutes.
UConn is set to face Providence at home on Sunday, followed by two away games against Villanova and Georgetown.

Following McNeeley’s injury, the Blue Demons attempted a comeback; however, the Huskies secured their win with crucial three-pointers from Alex Karaban and Solo Ball.
Ball addressed McNeeley’s exit, stating, “It was a little mishap, but we have a next man up mentality.
We all know the effort we put in during practice to ensure everyone is ready when called upon.”

McNeeley was a prominent recruit hailing from Texas and has made a significant impact at UConn, averaging 13.6 points and 5.8 rebounds over the course of 14 games for the two-time reigning national champions.
