FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU has officially appointed Mike Buddie as its new athletic director, a decision announced on Wednesday.
Buddie transitions to TCU from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he held the same role since 2019. His time at Army was marked by significant achievements, particularly with the football program, which experienced a record-breaking season in 2024. The Black Knights not only won an impressive 12 games but also secured a spot in the College Football Playoff, setting a record among service academies.
“TCU is assembling an exceptional executive team aimed at propelling us to the next level of excellence in shaping the future of the Horned Frogs. We sought someone who would uphold our mission of developing ethical leaders while emphasizing student and community outcomes,” stated President Daniel W. Pullin. “In a field of outstanding candidates, Mike stood out as a leader aligned with our strategic vision, showcasing the values, integrity, and innovative mindset crucial for fostering athletic excellence.”
Under Buddie’s leadership, Army embarked on remarkable facility upgrades and strategic investments in its athletic offerings, including the ambitious $170 million Michie Stadium Preservation Project, the largest privately funded construction initiative in Army’s history.
Additionally, Buddie enable Army’s football team to join the American Athletic Conference solely for football, where the team remained undefeated, clinching the league title in their inaugural season.
“TCU is unique — it offers a blend of outstanding academic standing, an unparalleled campus atmosphere, and competitive sports that are truly exciting,” Buddie expressed. “I am privileged to be part of an institution that values its mission and ethos while also prioritizing success on the field.”
Buddie steps into his new role following the departure of former athletic director Jeremiah Donati, who recently accepted a position at South Carolina.
