Polite’s clutch shot secures victory for UNC Greensboro against Wofford 68-66

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — In an exciting Southern Conference opener, UNC Greensboro came out on top against Wofford with a final score of 68-66, thanks to Ronald Polite’s clutch performance. Polite, who tallied 16 points, hit a decisive 3-pointer with just nine seconds left on the clock to seal the victory for the Spartans.

Polite demonstrated impressive shooting accuracy, hitting 6 of 9 attempts, including a flawless 4 for 4 from three-point range. He was supported by teammate Demetrius Davis, who also contributed 16 points, going 6 for 12 from the floor and knocking down 3 of 7 shots from beyond the arc. Kenyon Giles provided additional offense for the Spartans, finishing the game with 12 points, converting 5 of 6 free-throw attempts and making 3 of 10 field goals, including 1 for 4 from long distance.

On the other side, the Terriers of Wofford, who are now at 6-8, were led in scoring by Corey Tripp, who finished with 17 points and five assists. Kyler Filewich had a solid game as well, notching 13 points along with 14 rebounds and contributing five assists. Justin Bailey also played a significant role, adding 10 points to the team’s total.

The first half saw UNC Greensboro struggle, as they went into halftime trailing 28-21. Donovan Atwell provided five points during the first half, but it was Davis who stepped up in the second half, leading the team with 15 points to help turn the game around.
