RENO, Nev. — Ian Martinez, who had been scoreless for most of the game, erupted for 17 consecutive points in the last 6:10, propelling Utah State to a 69-64 win over Nevada on Tuesday night.

Martinez’s scoring spree began with a layup that pushed the Aggies (13-1, 3-0 Mountain West Conference) ahead with a score of 54-46. Despite the Wolf Pack (8-6, 0-3) managing to trim the deficit to two points on two occasions, Martinez responded with a pivotal 3-pointer to extend the lead to 61-56. In the final minute, after Nevada came within a point at 61-59, he secured his team’s victory with two more layups.

Utah State’s bench was bolstered by Tucker Anderson, who contributed 16 points, while Mason Falslev rounded out an impressive performance with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

For Nevada, Nick Davidson was a standout player, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Justin McBride added another 11 points to the scoreboard, and Xavier Dusell chipped in with 10 points from the bench.

In a balanced first half, Davidson helped Nevada take a 33-28 lead into halftime after the team had initially fallen behind by eight points.

Utah State has secured three consecutive victories since suffering their only defeat of the season, which came in a close 75-73 loss to UC San Diego earlier in the year.
