RICHMOND, Va. — In a thrilling matchup on Tuesday evening, Delonnie Hunt propelled the Richmond Spiders to a 66-61 victory over George Washington by scoring all of the team’s final six points from the free-throw line in the last 24 seconds of the game.
Hunt’s performance also featured six steals, contributing significantly to the Spiders’ defensive efforts, as they improved their record to 6-8 with a conference win of 1-0 in the Atlantic 10. Dusan Neskovic was another standout for Richmond, finishing the game with a solid contribution of 17 points.
For George Washington, which holds a record of 11-3 and is now 0-1 in the conference, Gerald Drumgoole Jr. led the charge with an impressive 27 points. Teammate Darren Buchanan Jr. showed his prowess on the boards, adding 11 points along with nine rebounds. Trey Moss also made his mark, netting 11 points during the contest.
Richmond took control by halftime, leading 29-21, primarily thanks to Hunt’s scoring efforts in the second half, where he added 14 points.
