In a decisive matchup in New York, Gibson Jimerson showcased his scoring prowess by netting 33 points, leading the Saint Louis Billikens to an 88-63 victory over the Fordham Rams on Tuesday night.
Jimerson also contributed significantly on the boards with eight rebounds for the Billikens (8-6, 1-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference). Robbie Avila added 19 points and five rebounds, while Isaiah Swope had a solid performance, shooting 7 for 12 and finishing with 15 points.
On the other side, Jackie Johnson III was the standout performer for the Rams (8-6, 0-1), scoring 14 points. Jahmere Tripp contributed 12 points to the effort, while Abdou Tsimbila came close to a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. This game marked the end of a five-game winning streak for Fordham.
Saint Louis seized control early in the game, taking the lead just 34 seconds in and maintaining it throughout. Jimerson was particularly influential, scoring 26 points in the first half, helping his team secure a 42-29 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Saint Louis continued to assert their dominance, launching an 11-2 run that increased their lead from 16 to 25 points, effectively putting the game out of reach for the Rams.
