The Chicago Cubs have officially signed left-handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar to a one-year contract, as announced by the team on Tuesday.

Thielbar, who is 37 years old, has spent the first eight years of his Major League career with the Minnesota Twins. During the 2023 season, he recorded a win-loss record of 2-4, throwing 59 games, and finishing with an earned run average (ERA) of 5.32 along with three saves.

A Wisconsin native, Thielbar was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 18th round of the 2009 amateur draft. Over the course of his career, he has made 347 appearances, all of which were in relief roles, achieving a record of 23 wins and 12 losses, with a solid career ERA of 3.38.

The Cubs are looking to bolster their pitching staff, and Thielbar’s experience and skills could prove to be beneficial for the future season.
