In the latest recognition for outstanding performance in women’s college basketball, the National Player of the Week award for Week 8 has been given to JuJu Watkins from Southern California.
The sophomore guard delivered an impressive performance during a matchup against Michigan on Sunday, where she racked up 31 points along with seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals.
Demonstrating her prowess at the free-throw line, Watkins made 13 out of 14 attempts and also contributed defensively with three blocks.
This marks her second consecutive week receiving this prestigious award, highlighting her exceptional skills on the court.

In the runner-up position was Olivia Miles of Notre Dame.
She etched her name in ACC history by being the first player to achieve two consecutive triple-doubles, achieving 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists in a game against Virginia on Sunday.
Miles now ties the ACC record for the most career triple-doubles at six, and additionally, she becomes just the third player in Fighting Irish history to accumulate over 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 500 career assists.

The list of honorable mentions this week includes Harsimran “Honey” Kaur from Rhode Island, Elle Ladine from Washington, and Aneesah Morrow from LSU, all of whom have shown remarkable skills and consistent performance throughout the season.

Moreover, it is worth keeping an eye on Maddy Skorupski, a guard for Oakland, who had a remarkable outing with a personal best of 29 points alongside five steals and four assists in the Golden Grizzlies’ thrilling 86-85 overtime victory against Northern Kentucky.
She stands out as the sole player in the Horizon League averaging a minimum of 15 points and five steals per game, showcasing her defensive and offensive capabilities.
