Details: Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from the tournament following minor hand surgery after injuring himself on a broken glass dish during Christmas dinner. The event features all winners from the 2024 PGA Tour and those who placed in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings. Out of the 60 competitors participating, 29 did not secure a tournament victory last year. This tournament signifies the commencement of a new season, where only the top 100 players in the FedEx Cup standings will keep their full tour card for the coming year. Notably absent from the field are Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, and Tommy Fleetwood, who are set to participate in events in Dubai as the European Tour resumes. Viktor Hovland will be competing for the first time since August after sustaining an injury to his right foot due to a mishap with a bed frame upon his arrival in Hawaii. Xander Schauffele enters the 2025 season with an impressive streak of 56 consecutive cuts made, ensuring he will continue that streak this week in Kapalua.
