San Diego’s Steven Jamerson II had an impressive performance, scoring 21 points as the Toreros secured a 75-65 victory over Pacific on Monday evening.
In addition to his scoring, Jamerson contributed significantly with 11 rebounds and four steals, helping his team to improve their record to 4-10 overall and 1-0 in the West Coast Conference. Santiago Trouet also made noteworthy contributions with 13 points, shooting efficiently with 5 of 8 from the field and 3 of 4 from the free throw line while grabbing eight rebounds. Bendji Pierre rounded out the scoring for San Diego with 13 points, hitting 4 of 8 from the field, including an impressive 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, and going 2 of 3 at the charity stripe. This win marked a crucial end to the Toreros’ six-game losing streak.
On the opposing side, the Tigers were led by Elijah Fisher, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Elias Ralph added 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Petar Krivokapic contributed 10 points. Unfortunately for Pacific, this defeat extended their losing streak to seven games.
The game featured a pivotal stretch during the first half where San Diego executed a 15-3 run, establishing a 12-point cushion. By halftime, San Diego held a 35-31 lead, with Pierre emerging as the team’s top scorer in the first half, accumulating 10 points. The decisive moment came in the second half when Jamerson scored a layup with 10:32 remaining, putting the Toreros ahead at 48-47, a lead they maintained until the final buzzer.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Thursday, with San Diego preparing to host Santa Clara while Pacific will face off against San Francisco at their home venue.
