The Washington Nationals have made the decision to re-sign pitcher Trevor Williams, solidifying their rotation for the upcoming seasons.
On Tuesday, the organization announced that they have finalized a two-year contract with Williams, which is valued at $14 million.
Williams, a right-handed starter, has been with the Nationals for the last two seasons, but his performance in 2024 was limited due to injury.
He made only 13 starts last season because he was sidelined for over three months due to a strained muscle in his throwing arm.
At 32 years old, Williams has accumulated a 4.30 earned run average (ERA) over his 202 major league games.
Throughout his career, he has played for several teams, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, and of course, the Nationals, beginning his professional journey in 2016.
In addition to Williams’ return, Washington has also re-signed first baseman Josh Bell to a one-year deal worth $6 million.
Bell, who enjoyed a successful tenure in D.C. before being traded to San Diego in 2022 as part of the major trade that involved Juan Soto, is keen to make a comeback with the Nationals.
After his time with the Padres, Bell has since played for teams including Cleveland, Miami, and Arizona.
