In Greensboro, North Carolina, Ryan Forrest was instrumental in leading N.C. A&T to an 85-72 victory against North Carolina Central on Saturday, scoring an impressive 30 points.
Forrest demonstrated remarkable shooting accuracy, making 12 of 18 attempts from the floor, which included 2 out of 4 from beyond the arc, along with 4 of 7 from the free-throw line. The Aggies, who improved to a record of 4-10 with this win, also saw Landon Glasper contribute significantly with 25 points, hitting 7 of 17 shots overall. Glasper was particularly effective from the three-point line, sinking 5 of 12 attempts, and he was perfect at the charity stripe, draining all 6 attempts. Additionally, Jahnathan Lamothe contributed 9 points, making 3 of 7 from the field but struggled a bit beyond the arc, managing just 1 of 4. Lamothe also grabbed 8 rebounds in the effort. This victory marked the end of an eight-game losing streak for the Aggies.
For the Eagles, Po’Boigh King was the standout player, finishing the game with 21 points. Keishon Porter had a solid performance as well, scoring 11 points and grabbing 7 rebounds, while Dionte Johnson also chipped in with 11 points.
The turning point of the game occurred when N.C. A&T took the lead with just 1:28 to go in the first half, and from that moment, they maintained control throughout. By halftime, the score stood at 46-39 in favor of N.C. A&T, thanks in part to Glasper’s 18 first-half points. The second half saw Forrest dominate, as he added 18 points to his tally, allowing N.C. A&T to outscore North Carolina Central by six points during that period and secure their well-deserved victory.
Looking ahead, N.C. A&T will face Elon in their next game at home this coming Thursday. Meanwhile, North Carolina Central is set to host Saint Andrews (NC) on Tuesday, aiming for a turnaround in their fortunes after this defeat.
